Official Announcement from Ahsay Online Backup
A recent security review uncovered a security vulnerability in AhsayOBM / AhsayACB which could possibly expose login information to hackers in communication under a special condition setup in laboratory.
Ahsay responded to this immediately and a hot fix (5.2.6.3) is now available for public download.

Bullguard has released a patch for the security hole in its backup software that was discovered recently by heise Security. Because the client did not check the server’s certificate, attackers could break into the connection as a man in the middle and sniff encrypted administration information on the wire.

A German web site reported on their attempts to hack into a number of leading online backup services. Of the services tested, they were unable to break into either Carbonite or Mozy, both of whom appear to do a good job with client authentication.

Trusting important corporate or personal data to an online backup provider can be unsettling.
Typically, secure data backups have resided on local tapes, CD’s or floppies that stayed under one’s physical control. With online backup, the data is sitting in someone else’s server.
