TAIPEI, TAIWAN – January 28, 2015 — / — QNAP® Systems, Inc. today released Notes Station 2.0, which now includes highly-anticipated features to help users take notes and keep information efficiently, including snapshots for version control, online preview for attached multimedia files, PDF file import/export, RSS live feeds, AES 256-bit encryption for notes, the ability to backup & modify Evernote notes, and more. With these additions, users can enjoy a better note-taking experience and write & organize their notes with greater efficiency for work and life tasks.

Notes Station 2.0 now allows users to flexibly take snapshots for retaining different versions of notes from different time points, resolving the hassle caused by accidental file deletion or replications of multiple versions of notes. Users can import content from PDF files for further editing, commenting, and marking. It is also convenient to put online content into notes by using the Notes Station Clipper plug-in to select and save desired online content & images. Existing notes can be exported as PDF files (by single page or entire files) for backup and sharing. “The addition of PDF import/export greatly helps to increase note-taking productivity, as organizing information in PDF files becomes easier and more straightforward,” said Aaron Liu, product manager of QNAP.

When users are on the go, they can remotely access Notes Station using the myQNAPcloud service and directly preview inserted office documents with the Chrome office extension, Google Docs or Office Online. Users can even play inserted multimedia and preview PDF and text files with the built-in media player without needing to download any files.

Notes Station adds even more new functions: background tasks support allows users to continue note-taking while the NAS is processing other tasks; AES 256-bit encryption provides security for confidential and sensitive information as only authorized users can read encrypted notes; RSS support helps collect subscribed online contents in one place, assisting users to effortlessly gather live RSS for their note-taking.

Evernote users can now backup their notes to Notes Station, where they can continue to edit backed up notes with the built-in powerful editing tools. “Notes Station supports Evernote’s proprietary .enex file format, and this backup method allows Evernote users to have full control over their notes by securely storing them on their own Turbo NAS instead of relying on a public cloud service,” added Liu.

Notes Station is a handy digital notepad on a private cloud. Users can easily collect ideas, edit notes, and further leverage the rich files, photos, music and video collections stored on the Turbo NAS to enrich their notes. It allows inviting other users to read or edit notes for productive communication and teamwork, and supports organizing calendars and to-do’s from each note in one place for easy access. With Notes Station, note-taking becomes easy, secure and flexible.
