Law firm information management leaders will explore key topics related to data management, security, privacy, staffing and globalization of programs

BOSTON, MA – March 25, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the storage and information management company, is hosting its fourth annual Law Firm Information Governance Symposium from March 26-27 in Atlanta, GA, bringing together some of the legal industry’s leading information governance thought leaders to discuss ideas for improving how law firms protect and manage information. This year, once again, symposium participants will drive the agenda and discussion, helping to advance standards and practices for information governance within law firms.

Similar to last year’s symposium, four task forces were commissioned to analyze and report on some of the most pressing information governance issues affecting law firms today. Over the two-day symposium, the task forces will present their initial findings and recommendations on each of the topics in a peer review format, using breakout sessions to further develop the reports for publishing by Iron Mountain later this year.

The task forces will be focusing on:

  • Effectively Managing Legacy/”Dark” Data – Led by Patricia Fitzpatrick, director of Information Governance & Compliance at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, this team will identify current information governance challenges and opportunities related to legacy/”dark” data.
  • Building an Information Governance Organization in the Law Firm – Led by Beth Chiaiese, CRM, director of Professional Responsibility & Compliance at Foley & Lardner, LLP, this team will discuss the organizational structure needed to implement information governance in the law firm, including challenges related to staffing and the transformation of records and information management to information governance.
  • Global IG Challenges – Led by Jim Flynn, CRM, director of Records and Docket at Winston & Strawn, LLP, this team will examine current challenges and opportunities related to information governance in regions outside of the U.S.
  • Transitioning from an Open Environment to Closed Environment – Led by Brian Donato, chief information officer at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, this team will spotlight current challenges and opportunities related to transitioning from an open environment to a closed environment, specifically regarding document security.

“Information governance continues to be one of the most complex and exciting topics for law firms today,” said Sue Trombley, managing director of Thought Leadership, Iron Mountain. “And as information governance has taken root and expanded, our symposium continues to grow and gain momentum with new topics driving the discussion. Newer issues like staffing, data management and expanding programs globally have risen to the fore, while security and information protection remain top of mind as well. Our task forces explored these topics and are eager to present them to their peers for discussion, with the goal of using those sessions to continue to refine and shape their reports using real-world expertise. We are honored that the industry continues to embrace the symposium as a platform for creative dialogue and problem solving on these important governance topics.”
