JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – 26 March 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Attix5, a leading global supplier of data protection software and cloud solutions, demonstrated its technical expertise and the impact of its fastest-on-the-market data recovery solution at the Cloud Expo Europe 2015 exhibition.

Cloud security was the prevalent theme among the 15 000 visitors, a mixed group of mostly IT solution architects, software distributors and resellers.

The expo afforded exhibitors an opportunity to engage with customers and explain business-critical product features. All aspects of the cloud offering was covered at the event, including hardware for cloud providers, cloud management software for resellers, and disaster recovery providers, among others.

One of the main takeaways from the expo is that the market is ready for something more than just experiments, and is longing for a practical platform for business operations.

A survey revealed that enterprise environments need to move away from capital expenditure towards operational expenditure. This has resulted in a lot of companies performing business operations on “shadow” IT cloud-type applications like DropBox, Google Drive and iCloud, without the consent of company IT policy.

“Obviously, one of the main reasons for this is the lack of sanctioned cloud security for such operations in said environments. The key point conveyed was that IT was not keeping up with appropriate cloud offerings,” said Petrus Human, Attix5 CTO.

“In order to mitigate cloud security concerns, business continuity and disaster recovery options need to be interwoven to your IT policies. Aspects like secure communication, encrypted storage, and regular backups mean that a business is prepared in case of a mishap. Having all this in the cloud means that there will be almost zero downtime on a business-critical environment,” adds Human.

Attix5 turned heads with its demonstration, which revealed how two large databases, SQL and Exchange, were restored almost instantly, and how a Hyper-V image was booted up directly from cloud-based backup storage using the latest LiveRestore technology.

The company believed the event was a success and achieved its objective of creating awareness and facilitating discussion.

“We showed why we are a key influence and why our technology makes a difference,” Human added.
