LOS ANGELES, CA – July 11, 2017 — /BackupReview.info/ — IDrive Online Backup has announced a new feature to assist consumers and businesses in the recovery of data after ransomware attacks or other disasters, IDrive Snapshots.

Encryption based ransomware is becoming more and more sophisticated and may not be detected by anti-virus software until it’s too late. Once infected, users are locked out from accessing their own data until they pay a fee, with no guarantee that their files will be recoverable after payment.

Introducing IDrive Snapshots, a historical view of user data stored in IDrive accounts which allows users to perform point-in-time recovery of their critical files. If user data gets infected with encryption based ransomware, all they have to do is select a timeline before infection and restore it.

Seeing as IDrive is cross-platform compatible, users can be sure that their PCs and Macs are protected from these threats and are capable of restoring versions of files from a time prior to infection.

“With the recent increase in ransomware attacks such as WannaCry and Petya, cloud backup is your best defense,” says Raghu Kulkarni, CEO of IDrive Inc. “IDrive continues to support consumers with the release of IDrive Snapshots enabling them to fight against ransomware and protect their critical files.”

The Snapshots feature is available on most IDrive accounts starting July 2017. The additional storage requirements for Snapshots does not impact user account storage space.
