FileShadow Desktop App now aggregates iCloud Drive files and iCloud Photos along with major cloud storage providers and NAS/DAS devices to enable secure cataloging, archiving and searching of all files

PROVO, Utah – November 20, 2018 — /BackupReview.info/ — FileShadow today announces the availability of the FileShadow Desktop App. The app aggregates files stored in Apple iCloud with other cloud storage systems, along with local and direct attached storage (DAS), including Drobo direct attached appliances with support for the newly announced Drobo 8D. With this addition, FileShadow now connects the majority of all cloud and macOS storage options into one secure cloud vault, delivering a single consolidated catalog of files.

With the FileShadow Desktop App, files and photos placed in iCloud from a Mac, a browser, an iPhone, or any Apple device can become part of the FileShadow archive.

“We are the only cloud service that integrates Apple iCloud files into a comprehensive cloud storage archive system,” said Tyrone Pike, President and CEO of FileShadow. “With our Desktop App, macOS users can now have machine learning tools for searching and retrieving their cloud files.”

In addition to macOS desktop (including iCloud Drive files and iCloud Photos), FileShadow archives and automatically catalogs photos and files across multiple cloud storage, desktop and NAS/DAS platforms, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe’s Lightroom solutions, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, and Drobo network and direct attached storage (NAS/DAS) devices.

The service generates extensive, searchable metadata for each file, including location (GPS), optical character recognition (OCR) and machine learning (ML) generated tags for photographic images. For example, a search for the term “sailing” will pull up images of sailboats that have been tagged by automated machine learning (ML) or can find a scanned contract that includes the words “sailing” or a related term such as “harbor.” By using machine learning, FileShadow provides superior search capabilities, allowing the user to find files in mere seconds effectively.

“FileShadow offers individuals and small businesses the machine learning power of large, enterprise content management systems for their personal cloud file storage,” said Jeff Looman, FileShadow’s VP of Engineering. “FileShadow provides an enterprise-level archive and backup that tracks and stores all revisions, even if a file is deleted from a linked account.”

FileShadow does not replace users’ existing cloud storage systems; it connects them together. The system allows the user to securely maintain and search their data in a single place instead of across multiple platforms where their data may be lost or forgotten. FileShadow is the only provider that bridges 95 percent of the cloud storage environment.

The service archives each revision and generation of every file, regardless of whether or not it was retained in the original, linked cloud storage system—providing a specific system of record for all files stored in each cloud storage account.

FileShadow delivers “11 Nines” of durability, assuring that assets stored on the user’s Apple iCloud will be quickly accessible through the FileShadow Desktop App, fully protected in a secure cloud vault, and available for a lifetime.

The FileShadow Service is free of charge for up to 100 GB of data. Subscriptions are available for more storage ($15/month for 1 TB; each additional terabyte is $10/month).
