Report Published January 30 Scores Scality RING First or Second Score Across all Five Use Cases

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – February 6, 2019 — /BackupReview.info/ — Scality™, the acknowledged leader for enabling distributed file and object storage and multi-cloud data control, today announced that the company’s acclaimed RING™ software-defined storage solution was awarded the highest score in the “Hybrid Cloud Storage” use case, and within second in all other use cases in the Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Object Storage report for 2019. According to Gartner, “by 2022, more than 80% of enterprise data will be stored in scale-out storage systems in enterprise and cloud data centers, up from 40% in 2018.”*

For the report, Gartner analysts Raj Bala and Julia Palmer evaluated 13 object storage products against eight critical capabilities and five use cases. In the report, the analysts also note: “Cost reduction is driving enterprise interest in on-premises object storage; however, compelling hybrid cloud storage capabilities also attract attention.” Scality RING’s highest score for the Hybrid Cloud Storage Use Case was accompanied by second highest scores for each of the other four use cases: Analytics, Archiving, Backup, and Cloud Storage.

“We are truly honored by Gartner’s recognition. Our belief is that Scality is the ‘gold standard’ for unstructured data storage–whether file or object,” said Paul Speciale, Chief Product Officer of Scality. “Scality was also recognized by Gartner in October of 2018 as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage. Scality received this distinction for the third year in a row. We are very proud to offer our customers the recognized best solution for their object storage needs.”

“We believe that the future of IT is Hybrid Cloud, and we have been working hard over the past two years to understand what that means in terms of the best solutions for cloud infrastructure for unstructured data. Delivering the very first open source multi-cloud data controller was our first step with Zenko; our enterprise Zenko, introduced last Fall, takes that important technology to organizations that are embracing hybrid cloud for their most valuable data. We are happy to see that our efforts are being acknowledged for Hybrid IT,” said Jerome Lecat, Co-founder and CEO of Scality.
