SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 19, 2019 — /BackupReview.info/ — Today, as photographers around the world celebrate the 9th annual World Photography Day, Drobo, the award-winning provider of storage solutions for businesses, professionals and consumers, and Photofocus, a premier voice and educator for aspiring and professional photographers, announced the winners of the first annual ‘Impact’ Photo Contest.

The winners were selected from over 1,300 photos submitted during the submission process. Each of the photos, judged by Photofocus Publisher, Rich Harrington, and world renowned photographers Chamira Young, Michéle Grenier and Kevin Ames, were evaluated on the impact each judge saw in the entries. Impact is a personal interpretation by each judge based on their experience and aesthetics and how each of the entries resonated with them individually.

“Photography is a universal language,” Kevin Ames, Director of Content at Photofocus said. “Impact is a universal theme. Photos impact photographers in many ways — during the creation, post-production and through the emotions and memories each one holds for its creator. Photos also impact the viewer. The statements each picture makes will vary with each person who sees it — artistically and emotionally and by what memories it stirs as well.”

Grand prize winner Cesar Santana will receive a Drobo 8D – the fastest Drobo yet, with Thunderbolt™ 3 speed, a Drobo 5N2, a Retrospect Backup Windows or Mac License, two Seagate HDDs, and a Sigma Lens (value up to $1,000). Second prize winner Somraj Sahu will receive a Drobo 5D3 and a Retrospect License.

“We have designed Drobo from the ground up to deliver the features and functionality that photographers, videographers and other creative professionals demand – ease-of-use and seamless expandability, and above all dependable protection that ensures content is always accessible and safe,” said Mihir Shah, CEO of StorCentric. “Retrospect Backup software protects every part of the computer environment, from onsite to cloud backup with one single click. Drobo and Retrospect together provide a complete data protection workflow for home or business.”

Commenting on the first Impact Photo Contest, Shah added: “The photos submitted were truly impressive, each one powerful in its own right. I do not envy this year’s judges, as I know choosing just two winners was not an easy task.”
