Julie Goddard MBCI, has over 15 years’ experience in Business Continuity and resilience spanning multiple industries. She began her career in IT Service Delivery in Food & Drink before expanding into Business Continuity. Julie held roles at Experian, Leicestershire County Council and most recently, was the Group Business Continuity Manager at the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

A well-known contributor to the industry, she served as a judge for the 2018 & 2019 CIR Business Continuity Awards and participated in the review of the BCI Best Practice Guidelines.

Julie commented: “I am very pleased to join Databarracks as a Business Continuity Consultant. It’s a fantastic team doing great work for its customers. After leaving the SRA I wanted to apply my skills and knowledge to help the businesses that need it most. Medium sized organisations are the ones who can struggle with Business Continuity. They are large enough that they have complex systems and processes, but they don’t have the scale to warrant full-time BC staff. I’m excited to make a difference for those customers, implementing practical solutions that work.”

Databarracks’ managing director Peter Groucutt commented: “Business Continuity as a Service is a rapidly growing service for us, and we’re thrilled to have Julie join us. Our aim with BCaaS is to take the processes and methods of mature, enterprises and deliver it as-a-service to medium sized organisations.

That needs two things. Firstly, the knowledge and experience of managing a Business Continuity Programme and handling incidents. Secondly, the ability to translate those methods and make them work for our customers.

Julie does exactly that. She has the best qualities we look for in a practitioner. She can take the, sometimes complex world of BC and make it easy to understand and engaging. The biggest problem we all face in continuity is maintaining attention in the face of a hundred other seemingly more urgent challenges. To really improve resilience, we have to embed BC within the organisations and make them care. That is what Julie is fantastic at.

“Resilience is a hot topic. From ransomware, Storms Ciara and Dennis to Coronavirus, organisations are looking at their plans to see, if they were impacted, could they keep serving their customers. It’s no-longer just a tick-box, compliance exercise, businesses must be prepared and ready.

“We knew Julie from her role at the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We work with a large number of the UK’s top 200 law firms so her expertise will be particularly valuable to those firms.”
