Industry leaders collaborate to accelerate hyperconverged data center design, testing and adoption in the enterprise – by tapping into the public cloud

PALO ALTO, CA – Nov. 17, 2015 – /BackupReview.info/ — Ravello Systems, the leading nested virtualization company, today announced it is enabling broad access to Nutanix Community Edition through fully automated and customizable deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud. The new offering leverages the on-demand nature of the public cloud for rapid design and testing, without the traditional barriers of cost, hardware procurement delays and compatibility issues. Together, Ravello Systems and Nutanix are making it easy for users to experience the benefits of web-scale data center technologies, generally for less than $1 per hour.

“Following the massive success of the launch of Community Edition, our users demanded the flexibility to access our hyperconverged software in the cloud,” said Greg Smith, senior director of product and technical marketing, Nutanix. “By working with Ravello Systems, we’re able to provide our community with the on-demand access they require so they can access our software without having to support their own hardware.”

Ravello Systems has developed HVX, a nested hypervisor with overlay networking and storage, which delivers self-contained capsules that can run existing virtual environments. Virtual environments include the hypervisor, such as VMware ESX, KVM and Nutanix Acropolis itself, on public clouds, including AWS and Google.

Enterprises no longer need to wait for hardware or be dependent on hosting providers to set up their test environments. They can now simply install and configure hyperconverged software, such as Nutanix Community Edition, on AWS and Google Cloud, the most cost-effective, reliable and geographically spread clouds in the world. In addition, Ravello’s blueprinting technology allows IT professionals to create and share complex, fully configured multi-node deployments in the form of templates that can be deployed as-is or further customized if required.

“We are pleased to extend the Ravello platform to support Nutanix Community Edition,” said Rami Tamir, CEO of Ravello Systems. “This is the latest in a growing trend of innovative industry-leaders — such as Arista in networking and Check Point in the security industry — leading the way in accelerating end-user access and adoption through Ravello.”

The new offering empowers a range of IT users, including:

  • Enterprise IT Professionals who can quickly evaluate the leading hyperconverged technology with no licensing costs or new hardware investment;
  • Nutanix Technology Partners who can now participate directly in the vibrant ecosystem for the next-generation of enterprise computing solutions, including the development of complementary applications, services and utilities;
  • Nutanix Resellers who can now quickly do sales demos and custom proof of concept environments for customers.

The Nutanix Community Edition on-demand is available now on the Ravello Repo, a repository of infrastructure blueprints. The list is expected to grow through user-generated blueprints that are shared with the community. Users can also tap into the NEXT online community for operational guidance and management best practices.
