MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – March 23, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Veritas Technologies, the leader in information management, today announced support for Google Cloud Platform with its market leading NetBackup 7.7 and Backup Exec 15 solutions. Organizations can use the Google public cloud as a backup destination, run back up and perform disaster recovery to or from the Google Cloud Platform. With this support, Veritas is delivering needed visibility and control for hybrid cloud environments.
“Our Hybrid Cloud research shows that 31 percent of organizations are already looking to the cloud for their backup and recovery workload, and that percentage will grow even more in the future,” stated Ben Gibson, Veritas CMO. “Integrating our market leading NetBackup and Backup Exec solutions with Google Cloud Platform gives organizations the ability to confidently and securely do this today.”
NetBackup v7.7
Veritas NetBackup™ 7.7 supports Google Cloud Storage Nearline with enterprise-grade capabilities. The combination enables use of cloud storage as an alternative to tape, when choosing long-term storage of backup data. It also allows backup of large volumes of data at a low cost, while providing access to it at any time and anywhere.
Using the unique NetBackup OpenStorage Technology (OST) layer, NetBackup easily monitors and manages data protection both on-premises and to private and public clouds. Regardless of location – disk, tape, or cloud – NetBackup lifecycle management capabilities manage when and how information is moved from online disk to Google Cloud Storage.
NetBackup v7.7 greatly enhances the performance and interoperability of backups directed to cloud storage services, such as Google Cloud Storage. One of the innovative capabilities of NetBackup, Auto Image Replication (AIR), provides a unique capability to extend disaster recovery to the cloud by efficiently replicating and managing catalog and backup data from multiple locations to a secure cloud environment.
Backup Exec 15
Backup Exec™ 15, data protection designed for mid sized organizations, delivers powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use backup and recovery for the entire IT infrastructure regardless of platform: virtual, physical and cloud.
Backup Exec 15 supports Google Cloud Storage Standard and Durable Reduced Availability Storage, creating compelling advantages for organizations implementing agile IT to improve availability and reduce risks and costs. Backup Exec 15 can be deployed on-premises and in-the-cloud for disk-to-disk-to-cloud and direct-to-cloud backups.
For over a decade, Veritas has been recognized as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for both Enterprise Backup Software and Integrated Appliances1.
“While storage and services are changing rapidly, accessing, understanding, managing, and protecting data is more crucial than ever,” commented Sam Elbeck, VP of Business Development and Client Services at Globanet. “Veritas, with assistance from its trusted partners such as Globanet, helps enterprises successfully manage data in all environments. Veritas clients are able to pinpoint the information they need, irrespective of location, and receive valuable business intelligence from their own data. This empowers them to meet regulatory compliance, eDiscovery and data management requirements. Veritas’ integration with Google Cloud Platform extends these benefits to the cloud, allowing Veritas customers to build and host their websites and applications in the cloud, as well as store and analyze data via Google’s scalable cloud infrastructure.”
“Enterprises are under increasing pressure to secure their data and become compliant, especially as they migrate to the hybrid cloud. They need to be confident they can maintain visibility and control over their most important asset: data,” said Matthew Edwards, President & Group CTO of bluesource. “By bringing together market-leading Veritas technologies and public cloud infrastructure from Google Cloud Platform, bluesource is able to deliver a complete data lifecycle management solution for customers of all sizes. Integration with the Google Cloud Platform delivers security, high performance, and the ability to scale at the speed of business,” added Mr. Edwards. “And once customers are able to see and control all their data assets, they can begin uncovering insights that drive better business decision-making.”
