After more than thirty years of managing operations forces, Lt. Gen. Ray Palumbo applies his knowledge and experience to Federal data management

BOSTON, MA – October 25, 2016 — / — Actifio, the copy data virtualization company, today announced that Lt. Gen. Ray Palumbo has joined the Actifio Board of Federal Directors. Palumbo brings a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge from managing special and conventional operations.

In his last job in the military, Palumbo was as the Pentagon’s Director for Defense Intelligence where he simultaneously led the department’s Intelligence, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance Task Force, a position that was instrumental in rapidly delivering critical aviation platforms, sensors, communication systems, and information processing capabilities to US and Coalition warfighters in Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere around the globe.

“It’s an honor to join Actifio’s Board of Federal Directors, and be part of an organization paving the way in copy data management,” said Lt. Gen. Ray Palumbo. “In speaking with Actifio Federal customers, I was struck by the return on investment they were achieving by focusing on the real culprit, data spread.”

“Ray’s addition to the Actifio team provides a welcome wealth of knowledge and expertise in Federal Data Management. The Virtualization of data is the last piece in achieving real return on data center consolidation and software defined data centers. Too often agencies are hobbled by the ball and chain of legacy infrastructure. The virtualization of data with Actifio enables instant access to your assets without expending additional compute.” said Bob Carter, VP of Federal Operations for Actifio.

Palumbo has a bachelor’s of science degree in general engineering from West Point, a master’s of science in administration from Central Michigan University, and a master’s of strategic studies from the US Army War College. Among his numerous military awards and decorations, he graduated from the British Higher Command and Staff Course in Shrivenham, England, and is a recipient of the 2015 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
