Cohesity’ SaaS Offerings Provide Customers With a Simpler Way to Back up, Secure, and Recover their Data, which is vital for improving cyber resilience and combating rising ransomware threats

Tokyo, JAPAN – January 25, 2023 — / BackupReview.info / — Cohesity, a leader in data management and data security, today announced the availability of its Cohesity Cloud Services solutions for customers in Japan and existing customers operating in Japan. Cohesity Cloud Services is a portfolio of ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) offerings that simplify data management and data security. The solution consolidates data in the cloud, breaks down data silos, and reduces infrastructure complexity, to increase agility and derive more value from data.

Cohesity Cloud Services is designed to provide organisations with the capability to back up, classify, isolate, secure, procure threat intelligence, and recover their data – all through a single multicloud platform. Cohesity takes care of managing the underlying Cohesity Cloud Services infrastructure, hosting the offerings on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Tokyo (Japan) region.

From today, customers in Japan can now access two Cohesity Cloud Services offerings:

  • Backup as a Service: Cohesity DataProtect delivered as a service is a backup as a service (BaaS) offering that gives customers an easy way to back up and protect their cloud-native, SaaS and on-premises data in a Cohesity-managed solution. As with the Cohesity DataProtect on-premises solution, the BaaS offering delivers support, security, and protection for an array of cloud workloads including Microsoft 365 SaaS applications, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon S3 data*, Salesforce (SFDC)*, and other cloud providers. Additionally, Cohesity BaaS also provides support for on-premises data sources such as virtual machines (VMs), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and databases.
  • Data Isolation & Recovery: Cohesity FortKnox is a SaaS data isolation and recovery solution that can play a critical role in helping organisations minimise the impact of cyberattacks such as ransomware. This offering is designed to help customers improve cyber resiliency by providing an isolated and immutable copy of data in a Cohesity-managed cloud vault. If necessary, organisations can utilise this copy to recover confidently from attacks. Powering a modern “3-2-1” option fit for the cloud era and strict security measures, Cohesity FortKnox is designed to deliver off-site protection while dramatically simplifying operations and lowering costs compared to magnetic-tape and self-managed data vaults. With Cohesity FortKnox, organisations can simply connect, vault, and recover, while also meeting stringent recovery service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirementsOrganisations’ budgets and recovery time objectives (RTO) vary, this is why Cohesity offers customers two options to fit their critical needs, with both options delivering crucial security capabilities including virtual air gapping, immutability with Amazon S3 Object Lock, role-based access control (RBAC), quorum (four-eyes principle), multi-factor authentication (MFA,) and a Cohesity key management system (KMS):
  • Cohesity FortKnox on Amazon S3 Standard-Infrequent Access Storage Class (Amazon S3 Standard-IA): For data that is not accessed frequently but requires rapid access when needed. This option is already offered by Cohesity and includes immediate data recovery, with a minimum 30-day retention period.
  • Cohesity FortKnox on Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval (FR): A recent addition, this option offers cost-effective cold storage option that provides SaaS cyber vaulting capabilities with recovery times ranging from minutes to hours, with a retention period of 90 days or longer.

Additional Cohesity Cloud Services solutions will be made available in the future. As with Cohesity’s on-premises solutions, Cohesity Cloud Services offerings are part of Cohesity’s Data Cloud platform and are easily managed through one user interface via Cohesity Helios. This modern approach to data management and data security helps customers consolidate many of the separate services, products, and administrative consoles that organisations often struggle to manage today. This consolidation can further enhance data security by helping companies reduce their attack surface. Customers can also utilise Cohesity Cloud Services to shift expenses from CapEx to OpEx.

“Businesses and governments continue to face a worsening cyber threat landscape typified by increasingly sophisticated and frequent ransomware attacks, while at the same time they continue to digitise and embrace cloud technology. Cohesity Cloud Services is designed to help them enhance their data security and protection capabilities, recover their data and business processes, and rob attackers of their leverage, which lowers business risks,” said Sanjay Poonen, chief executive officer, Cohesity. “We are pleased to be able to offer our customers in Japan even greater choice and flexibility in how they consume Cohesity solutions to manage, protect, secure, and recover their data.”

“The introduction of the Cohesity Cloud Services portfolio of SaaS offerings to Japan empowers customers with the ability to simplify their data management and security, while consuming Cohesity in the way that best fits their hybrid or multicloud environments. The availability of these solutions also provides our Japanese channel partners with the opportunity to add their unique value and provide customers with bespoke or optimised solutions,” said Toshiaki Ito, president and representative director, Cohesity Japan. “Ransomware is the leading cybersecurity threat in Japan, which is why our modern data management, protection, and recovery capabilities provide customers with the simple and powerful solutions they need to help enhance their security posture, improve cyber resilience, and strengthen business continuity.”

Customers can subscribe to current and future Cohesity Cloud Service offerings through authorised Cohesity channel partners, distributors, and in the AWS Marketplace. Cohesity Cloud Services not only gives partners the opportunity to grow their recurring revenue business, but it also allows them to expand their existing managed service offerings without having to build out infrastructure themselves. Partners can also use Cohesity Cloud Services as an entry point if they are thinking about starting a managed service practice.

*Early Access to be made available in January 2023, with general availability to follow in the coming months.
