Actifio’s Copy Data Virtualization Platform used by several of the top Disaster Recovery as a Service providers

BOSTON, MA – February 21, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — Actifio — the copy data virtualization company — was cited by Forrester Research, Inc. in the February 4, 2014 report: “The Forrester Wave™: Disaster-Recovery-As-A-Service Providers, Q1 2014”. In this evaluation, Actifio was cited as an enabling technology that plays a key role in disaster-recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) delivery.

According to the report:

“Actifio is leading the crusade on copy data management – the concept having only a single copy of data that can be leveraged for many different use cases, like backup, disaster recovery, development, and testing. Several of the top DRaaS providers in this evaluation are using Actifio appliances as a means of providing both remote and local recovery for clients.”

Actifio is currently powering several vendors listed as “Leaders” in the Forrester Wave™ Report including a new SmartCloud Data Virtualization service from IBM BCRS that was launched last week. Actifio’s platform enables customers to decouple their application data from their physical infrastructure, improving business resiliency, agility, and the ability to move more seamlessly into the cloud.

The report also emphasized the important role played by partners and technology enablers in delivering DRaaS:

“You can’t spend time analyzing the DRaaS market without also understanding the key role that partners and enablers of these solutions play. While a handful of providers…[who] deliver services based almost entirely on their own intellectual property, the majority of the providers in this space work with a variety of powerful software solutions that facilitate replication, copy management, automation, and failover. You can deploy all of these tools on-premises and in private cloud implementations and they can serve as the building blocks for an in-house cloud-based recovery solution.”

Actifio continues to help customers and partners execute more ambitious cloud initiatives such as driving more corporate data into the cloud. In fact, 65% of Actifio users will take advantage of the cloud as a strategic priority for 2014 (Source: TechValidate).

“We are thrilled to be included as a software partner and enabling technology in disaster-recovery-as-a-service delivery,” said Actifio CEO Ash Ashutosh. “We believe this further validates the outstanding market reception we have received from end-users, partners and managed service providers alike who have fully embraced our copy data virtualization solutions.”
