Integration via Code42’s open API lets joint customers better monitor endpoint data security patterns and resource utilization

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Oct. 1, 2014 — /BackupReview.info/ — Code42, the leader in endpoint data protection and management for business and enterprise, today announced an application programming interface (API) integration with Splunk Enterprise—a leading operational intelligence platform—to provide deeper, real-time visualization and search analysis of endpoint data. Joint Code42 and Splunk customers now can more easily search, analyze and visualize large amounts of endpoint data protected by Code42 in support of business intelligence, data security and compliance efforts.

Enterprise IT departments use the analytics results gained via the Code42-Splunk API integration to better track resource utilization, plan for future storage capacity needs, and create custom security monitoring and auditing reports of endpoint data—all from a single interface. For example, IT can more readily identify security threats and close compliance gaps by using the integration to detect abnormal patterns in endpoint data usage. Additionally, the integration aids in e-Discovery and legal hold efforts by incorporating data protected by Code42’s CrashPlan endpoint backup solution.

“Splunk has established itself as an effective real-time monitoring and visualization platform,” said Mitch Coopet, co-founder and head of product at Code42. “The growth of data on user devices creates a new data monitoring challenge for enterprises. Code42’s open API and data logs work with the Splunk platform to unlock additional insight from corporate data residing on endpoints, and also can be correlated with other systems to gain broader intelligence.”

Code42 reduces the management burden on IT by empowering employees with an intuitive approach to endpoint data protection. Deployed via private cloud, public cloud or hybrid cloud, CrashPlan backs up data silently—without any user effort or intervention required—which significantly increases employee productivity. Once CrashPlan protects endpoint data—preserving every version of every file forever—a wide array of data governance and productivity initiatives can be supported, including e-Discovery and legal holds, endpoint disaster recovery, device and OS migration, secure mobile access, and enterprise file sync and share.
