Cohesity SaaS Offerings Provide Customers With Another Simple Way to Back up and Recover Data — Critical In an Age of Escalating Ransomware Attacks

Singapore – June 16, 2022 — / / — Cohesity, a leader in next-gen data management, today announced it is expanding the availability of its Data Management as a Service (DMaaS) offerings to customers in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

DMaaS is a portfolio of ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) offerings designed to provide enterprise and mid-size customers with a radically simple way to back up, secure, govern, and analyse their data.Cohesity takes care of managing the underlying DMaaS infrastructure, hosting the offerings on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region.

Customers in Singapore and Southeast Asia can now access two DMaaS offerings from Cohesity:

  • BaaS: Cohesity DataProtect delivered as a Service is a backup as a service (BaaS) offering that gives customers another easy way to back up their data on-premises or in cloud environments. As with the Cohesity DataProtect on-premises solution, the BaaS offering delivers support for an array of cloud workloads including Microsoft 365 SaaS applications, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances and compute infrastructure, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and on-premises data sources such as virtual machines (VMs), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and databases.
  • Cohesity FortKnox: Cohesity FortKnox is a SaaS data isolation and recovery solution that can play a critical role in helping organisations minimise the impact of cyber attacks such as ransomware. This offering is designed to help customers improve cyber resiliency by providing an isolated and immutable copy of data in a Cohesity-managed cloud vault. If necessary, organisations can utilise this copy to recover confidently from attacks. Powering a modern “3-2-1” option fit for the cloud era, Cohesity FortKnox is designed to deliver off-site protection while dramatically simplifying operations and lowering costs compared to magnetic-tape and self-managed data vaults. With Cohesity FortKnox, organisations can simply connect, vault, and recover, while also meeting stringent recovery service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirements.

Other DMaaS offerings will follow in the future. As with Cohesity’s on-premises solutions, DMaaS offerings can be easily managed through one user interface via the Cohesity Helios multicloud platform. This next-gen approach to data management helps customers consolidate many of the separate services, products, and administrative consoles that organisations often struggle to manage today. This consolidation can further enhance data security by helping companies reduce their attack surface. Customers can also utilise DMaaS to shift expenses from CapEx to OpEx.

A Vanson Bourne study, The State of Data Management Report, commissioned by Cohesity, found that 89% of senior IT leaders/organisations are likely to consider deploying a DMaaS solution, citing the ability to derive more value from data and cost-effectiveness among the top reasons.

“With the constant threat of ransomware, being able to rapidly backup and recover, and embrace modern data isolation capabilities in the cloud is important to many of the region’s IT leaders. Customers can now leverage our Data Management as a Service offerings as another way to enhance data protection, keep bad actors at bay, and lower business risks,” said Brad Schwarz, vice president and general manager, Data Management as a Service, Cohesity. “We are pleased to offer customers in Singapore and Southeast Asia even greater choice and flexibility. With Cohesity, they can manage their data directly, utilise Cohesity’s DMaaS offerings, work with a Cohesity-powered partner, or a combination of all three.”

“Cloud is a differentiator for customers in Southeast Asia, unlocking business value by enabling them to leverage analytics for data-driven insights that accelerate business transformation securely,” said Stanley Chan, head of technology partners, Asia-Pacific and Japan, AWS. “We’re excited to continue delivering on the strategic collaboration we announced with Cohesity in 2020, as we are both focused on helping businesses around the world reduce cost, increase agility, and innovate faster with the cloud.”

“The introduction of our DMaaS portfolio of offerings to the Singapore and wider Southeast Asia region not only empowers customers to further simplify their data management and consume Cohesity in a way that best aligns to their hybrid environments, but importantly also gives our regional partners the opportunity to add their unique value to provide customers with tailored and optimised solutions,” said Sheena Chin, managing director, ASEAN, Cohesity.

“The launch of Cohesity DMaaS – on AWS – in Singapore is a fantastic development for customers. Ingram Micro is excited to be able to work with Cohesity bringing this innovative offering to customers in Singapore, especially given the ongoing shift to either hybrid or cloud environments,” said Eunice Lau, executive managing director, Ingram Micro Singapore. “Organisations have more data management and protection demands than ever, with increased adoption of new technologies and cloud applications, and the proliferation of cyber threats, especially ransomware. We are committed to helping our customers better manage, protect, and derive value from their precious data, which is why the availability of DMaaS out of Singapore is a great development for both us and our customers.”

Customers can subscribe to current and future DMaaS offerings through authorised Cohesity channel partners, distributors, and in AWS Marketplace. DMaaS not only gives partners the opportunity to grow their recurring revenue business, but it also allows them to expand their existing managed service offerings without having to build out infrastructure themselves. Partners can also use DMaaS as an entry point if they are thinking about starting a managed service practice.
