Reduxio’s HX550 system offers California municipality higher performance for applications and significant reduction in response times

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Dec. 14, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — Reduxio Systems announced today it has streamlined IT operations for the City of Thousand Oaks by enabling the municipality to offer a fast and reliable work environment for all of its employees at the Hill Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant. Faced with an aging and inefficient legacy system, the City of Thousand Oaks decided against replacing it with another traditional storage area network (SAN) system and instead turned to Reduxio’s hybrid storage, offering flash performance while at the same time providing the necessary capacity to improve efficiency and simplify data recovery for its employees at the plant.

Located in Ventura County, California, just 35 miles northwest from downtown Los Angeles, the City of Thousand Oaks is a thriving planned community with over 130,000 residents. The IT environment of Thousand Oaks is operated out of three core sites and multiple satellite locations, including the Hill Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant (HCTP). Treating an average of 8.5 million gallons of wastewater per day, the facility employs over 50 engineers and administrative employees. Capturing and storing photos and videos of the wastewater process is critical to the plant’s validation and long term success and the legacy system that the city worked with relied solely on backup to tape, which required time-consuming administration.

To address these issues, Thousand Oaks’ IT administrators searched for new technology and turned to Reduxio’s HX550 flash hybrid storage array. Based on the Reduxio TimeOS™storage operating system, and its unique BackDating™ capability;  the HX550 allows users to recover application data to any second in the past.  It  eliminates most of the complexity associated with managing storage. The HX550 provides exceptional performance and efficiency, based on its NoDup™ in-line-in-memory deduplication and compression; and Tier-X™, which continuously and autonomously tiers data for optimal storage performance and cost effectivness. Thousand Oaks also leveraged Reduxio’s StorApp for VMware vSphere, a storage management console for the vSphere Web Client, that provides simplified provisioning, capacity and instant recovery of virtual environments to any precise second in the past.

“Distributing our IT services across the different sites is key to delivering a fast and reliable work environment for all our employees, no matter their location,” said Dustin Hurshman, IT Analyst III, City of Thousand Oaks. “We knew we couldn’t rely on legacy technology to meet our growing needs and Reduxio’s technology began making an impact in our efficiency from the moment it was installed, with employees noting higher performance for their applications and significant reduction in response times.”

In addition to streamlining IT accessibility for remote workers, Thousand Oaks employees also benefit from Reduxio’s technology by experiencing two times faster file access with flash-based storage and less than one minute average latency times. Reduxio was also able to set-up the system and have it up and running in less than 20 minutes.

“Innovation is key to success in today’s ever-changing IT environment. It’s IT organizations like the City of Thousand Oaks who are questioning the constraints and limitations of legacy technology and conventional ways of thinking that are setting the pace,” said Mike Grandinetti, chief marketing and corporate strategy officer, Reduxio. “We’re proud to be working with the City of Thousand Oaks to streamline and enhance its IT environment, improving efficiency and simplifying data management and protection.”
