SME, the UK secure file sharing Fabric startup, has been accepted as a Crown Commercial Service (CCS) supplier on the UK Government G-Cloud initiative for the fourth time

LONDON, UK – 9th August 2016 — / — Storage Made Easy (SME) today announced they have been reselected for the fourth time by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) on its G-Cloud initiative and their Leading Enterprise File Share and Sync solution will continue to be available on the Digital Marketplace. The SME solution is available under the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) category in the new G-Cloud 8.

The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) delivers value for the nation through outstanding commercial capability and quality customer service. Its procurement arrangements can be used by central government departments and organisations across the public sector including local government, health, education, not-for-profit and devolved administrations.

G-Cloud, launched in 2012, brings increased flexibility and cost reduction that the Cloud gives to private companies and makes it available for public sector organisations.

The SME Enterprise File Share and Sync solution was evaluated during the tender process and pre-agreed terms and conditions offer customers sound contractual safeguards. Through the competitive tender process and regular benchmarking, CCS ensures customers have access to the most competitive deals.

Storage Made Easy is available in an exclusive package using UK Cloud’s Primary Storage in the Cloud and Computing-as-a-Service infrastructure, delivering an Enterprise-grade file server and storage solution.

UKCloud, SME’s chosen partner, has been helping the UK Public Sector to transform its digital capabilities. They’ve helped save hundreds of millions of pounds by delivering more agile, lower cost IT solutions throughout government.

SME brings a secure file sharing alternative for government and educational bodies, which will allow customers to store and manage data in a scalable and secure environment through a user-friendly interface. The SME solution is easily integrated, managed and utilised to set secure governance and compliance controls.

The solution is also able to unify different data sources, such FTP, WebDav, SharePoint, and up to 50 others, into a single interface that is securely accessible from any mobile device or desktop.

In addition to the reselection SME announced a large government customer win that is using the UK Cloud infrastructure with the SME solution, taking advantage of UK Cloud’s Object Storage and the sophisticated permissioning with SFTP access from the SME provided solution. The nature of the organisation prevents SME being able to reference them by name direct.

Simon Hansford, UKCloud CEO said, “Our partners play an absolutely pivotal role in the success and continued growth of our business within the G-Cloud framework.

We chose our new name -UKCloud- because it perfectly encapsulates our unwavering dedication to and focus on the UK public sector. Combine that commitment with our security credentials and our partners’ extensive capabilities and together we can continue to transform public sector services that benefit all UK citizens and tax payers via G-Cloud 8.”

Jim Liddle, Storage Made Easy CEO said, “We remain committed to G-Cloud and have started to accrue larger customers due to the sheer breadth of our solution and the number of use cases it satisfies for UK Government organisations. These include secure file sharing, encryption, collaboration, native desktop drive access, and policy driven data governance.”

Storage Made Easy is currently providing their collaboration and file sharing solution choice for universities and schools, non-profit organizations, direct corporate use, OEM and ISP.

About the Crown Commercial Service
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has brought together Government’s central commercial capability into a single organisation, amalgamating Government Procurement Service with other commercial teams from the Cabinet Office and central government departments.

CCS is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office and operates as a trading fund under the Government Trading Funds Act 1973. Their remit is to work with both departments and organisations across the whole of the public sector to ensure maximum value is extracted from every commercial relationship and improve the quality of service delivery. The CCS goal is to become the “go-to” place for expert commercial and procurement services.

With both service delivery and advisory capability, services include contract management and supplier performance management to ensure that the Government acts as a true, single customer; freeing up individual organisations to focus their procurement expertise on what is unique to them.
