Latest release delivers significant new functionality with major improvements in performance and scalability exceeding the largest enterprise requirements
SAN RAMON, CA – August 11, 2016 — /BackupReview.info/ — WANdisco (LSE: WAND), the market leader in Active Transactional Data Replication™ enabling global enterprises to meet today’s data challenges of secure storage, scalability and availability both on-premise and in the cloud, today announced the release of WANdisco Fusion™ 2.9. Fusion 2.9 delivers new levels of performance and scalability, with a number of enhancements making it easier to support hybrid big data deployments with continuous and consistent access across any mix of on-premise and cloud environments.
WANdisco Fusion 2.9’s patented technology:
In addition, one of the most significant new features of this release is the application of WANdisco’s patented active transactional replication to the Hive metastore, used to support familiar SQL-like access to Hadoop. Changes made to table definitions and other objects in the Hive metastore are replicated to Hive metastore instances deployed with other Hadoop clusters. Data added to the underlying Hadoop cluster referencing the new object definitions is replicated to other Hadoop clusters in a subsequent step, to guarantee consistent access across clusters and locations.
“Global enterprises increasingly require the ability to move large volumes of data at speed across both on-premise and cloud environments with continuous availability, consistency and easy access,” said David Richards, WANdisco CEO and Co-Founder. “WANdisco Fusion has been the only solution that not only met, but exceeded these requirements, making it possible to move big data deployments out of the lab and into business critical production. Now Fusion 2.9 extends these capabilities and takes them to the next level, both on-premise and in the cloud.“
Before the release of Fusion 2.9, Fusion’s superior capabilities were recognized by third party enterprise software testing firm Appvance, in a comparison of WANdisco Fusion’s performance and functionality with Cloudera BDR’s. Appvance found that Fusion’s Active Transactional Data Replication™, with its built-in automated forward recovery, avoided Cloudera BDR’s risk of data loss and extended downtime after outages. Appvance also found that Fusion replicated data up to 90% faster than BDR without imposing BDR’s overhead that severely impacts the performance of other applications running on the clusters.
