Cloud Data Backup Shows Fast Movement and Increased Adoption in Gartner Hype Cycles for Storage Technologies and Cloud Security

SAN JOSE, Calif. August 08, 2017 — / — Datos IO, the application centric cloud data backup company, today announced that it has been recognized as a Sample Vendor in two Gartner reports; “Hype Cycle for Storage Technologies, 2017” and “Hype Cycle for Cloud Security, 2017.” Gartner notes that as more production workloads migrate to the cloud it has become critical to protect data generated natively in the cloud, and cited Datos IO in both reports as one of the select sample vendors in the market. Furthermore, in the 2017 Hype Cycle for Storage Technologies, Gartner states that cloud data backup is one of two emerging technologies that “are showing fast movement on the Hype Cycle and increased adoption.”

In both Hype Cycle reports[1],[2] Gartner states “Cloud data backup refers to policy-based backup tools that can back up and restore production data generated natively in the cloud. Such data could be generated by software as a service applications or by infrastructure as a service compute services. Backup copies can be stored in the same or a different cloud location, and various restore/recovery options should be offered in terms of restore granularity and recovery location.”
